Here’s some posts that I have found quite useful this week.
- Who I’ll Never Be by Craig Groeschel is probably the most encouraging/challenging post for me this week. (Read the comments too)
- Lakeland Revival Leader to Separate from Wife and Daily Revival Meetings - Sad to see this happen
- Son of Hamas Leader Talks of the Cost of Christianity - Thanks Todd
- Barack Obama and John McCain will be interviewed by Pastor Rick Warren this Saturday.
- Leo’s Story - I posted the link earlier this week, but I have to do it again. It’s so powerful that you need to see it again.
Also, I had the priviledge of meeting with Pete Wilson at Crosspoint on Thursday. It was a powerful and encouraging time just sitting and dreaming together about what God has in store for Middle Tennessee. Just before our meeting, I had the chance to finally meet Anne (Flowerdust) Jackson. She’s a Texan (don’t mess with her) with an awesome blog. Go check it out.
If you haven’t seen it yet, you have to check out Leo’s Story over at Steven Furtick’s blog. Praise God for what He’s doing in Charlotte through Elevation Church!
With 3 kids practicing everyday of the week for football, my time to post has been very limited. I’ve been keeping up with the blogosphere and bookmarked several posts that I think are definitely worthwhile. BTW, If you haven’t checked out Nelson Searcy, you really need to. He’s got some great resources that are worth every penny.
So our church meets about 100′ from a pub. I’ve been in Gary’s Place a few times to hang out with Gary and meet people. Gary is the person that recommended our guitarist to come and play for us. He’s just a great all around guy that I like to chat with. In July, Gary’s Place and Elevation Church is partnering together for an event that we hope will be awesome. I’ll share more about that when I return from our family’s camping trip.
There’s been lots of discussion in the blogosphere lately about christians drinking beer, churches meeting in bars, does Jesus belong in a pub, would jesus have a beer with me, and many many others. The list of sites discussing this issue is huge. I have huge respect for each person I linked to because they’re bringing this subject out in the open.
What’s your thoughts on the subject? I’d love to hear them.
Tim Stevens shares Granger’s One Prayer opening video for free.
Pete did a time-lapse at Crosspoint that was amazing.
Also, check out the series Sync that Crosspoint is in right now. Really good stuff there.
My friend Randy Elrod put out this post about Levitra last night. (I knew there had to be some drawback to that drug)
You really have to check out Stuff Christians Like. This post had me rolling.
Nelson Searcy is blogging now.

I shot that pic at the golf course about ¼ mile from my house. Some of the best amateur golfers are playing and it looks to be a great turnout. Even as amateurs, they can still whip my tail all over the course.
Just the name, made me think of Anne’s post a couple months ago. I heard that Chris and Anne are moving to Nashville this weekend and need help moving in. If you can help out, visit flowerdust.net and let her know.
Got to meet Joe Case at Starbucks today. This dude is amazing and his church is too. Joe pastors Uprising Church and they’re doing the One Prayer series that starts next week. I wanted to meet him ’cause I read his blog regularly and also his story is very inspirational to me.
As we left, he said “We should do this more often. Churches banding together to do more things like this.” I totally agree.
He must have known about me, ’cause I’m speaking tomorrow. I might have to try #2.
Skittles
Why not throw skittles out during the service? Instead of saying, “watch this” or “listen to this” or another phrase that is designed to get people’s attention, why not throw handfuls of skittles at them? Wouldn’t you love to be hit in the side of the head with a bunch of fruit candy delightfulness? I would.
“we can only hope jesus will continue to challenge every effort to hijack his brand, because he is, and always will be, the main attraction.”
- found on Anne Jackson’s blog.
Yesterday, I had the privilege of meeting with David Foster, Lead Pastor of The Gathering. We met at my favorite Starbucks in Cool Springs. I always like meeting with Dave because he is very inspirational and encouraging. He truly is a pastor of pastors.
As we talked, I could sense the enthusiasm he had for The Gathering’s potential move from the movie theater in Franklin to Centennial High School. They would have a bigger auditorium and more space to have kids classes. In the middle of all that, they will also be closer to the growing area in south Franklin.
I shared with Dave about what’s been happening at Elevation and his comments were very encouraging to me. It reminded me of Ben’s post about the church planter’s second church plant (say that 5 times really fast). There were so many takeaways from our conversation, but here’s one. He said the best thing for us right now is to enjoy the season we’re in. To truly love on people and allow God to grow the church (because it’s His anyways). Enjoy the time, love the people, and allow God to grow the church.
Meeting with gifted leaders always leaves me challenged. Next week, I’ll be meeting with another buddy of mine here in Nashville, Pete Wilson. Should be a blast!
