As a Network church with LifeChurch.tv, there are times we have to preview the videos we receive. Since many churches have signed up for the One Prayer series and are now previewing the messages, I’m hoping today to throw out some useful Windows programs to help you along (I don’t have a Mac yet). Make sure to check out Media Ministry Matters as Charles has many useful tools as well. These are all freeware. If you have something that is better to use, go for it.

  • The program we use to preview the .iso file is the VLC Media Player.
  • You can use a DVD player to play the message, but we like to have things seamless.. We play the .iso file in Mediashout using Daemon Tools (thanks Bill) by mounting the .iso file and playing it as a DVD. Since LCtv videos come in HD, I couldn’t find out how to display them in the correct size. Searching around the net, I found the dimension we needed. You must change the file setting to “Custom” with a proportion of “1024×576″ for HDTV.

Hopefully, these two will help you during the One Prayer series and if you ever use a message from Open.

So what video tools do you use?

  1. I use a Mac (I know, I’m drinking the Kool-aid). We also use VLC to preview the .iso files. I then extract them with a program called Cinematize. I think Cinematize costs about 30 bucks. After that the video will be in a .mov format and I input it into ProPresenter. It’s worked well so far. I keep telling myself (I hope Brian isn’t reading this) that I need to backup every week on DVD and have it inputed as well… but… I haven’t really done that.

  2. Is this “Custom” video setting something in MediaShout? This same issue has been bugging me in EasyWorship for the past few months, so I’ve recently been using ProPresenter to play the ISO files the last few weeks on a borrowed Mac.

ProPresenter is great, but it’ll take us some time to totally transition to it for music and other stuff.

  3. Thanks Nate for the Mac ideas.
Bill - the custom setting is found in Mediashout’s cue properties box (rt click properties). I imagine that Easy Worship’s would be similar to that.

  4. Hey Jonathan (& friends),

My name is Mike, I used to run CG for the OKC campus of LifeChurch.tv (the broadcast campus). I thought you might enjoy some insight into how LC.tv manages it’s CG and playback.

At the broadcast campus we have a mac based playback system that utilizes mac mini’s, x-serves, and touch screen monitors. For CG we use both ProPresenter on a Mac Pro and an older DEKO system that we use while we wait for ProPresenter to be able to handle all of our CG needs. Generally, at this time, ProPresenter is used to handle all the the worship CG needs and DEKO is used to handle all of our CG needs during the message.

As of this weekend all playback is handled through ProPresenter on the campus level. We made this move to help consolidate the amount of equipment needed at each campus and make it easy to operate.

If anyone has more questions or wants to know more I’d love to talk to yah. Email me at mike[dot]jones@lifechurch[dot]tv
