Mark Batterson’s post on Thursday really got me thinking about my vehicle. I have a 1997 Ford Explorer with 160k and best of all, it’s paid off. The transmission started slipping back in the summer and I discovered that if you gas it at just the right time, it’ll catch and everything would be fine. Lately though, it’s slipped a lot while driving. Not good.
Another added problem that just started is it’ll stall if you’re under 5mph. Yeah, try that on the Interstate during rush hour. I checked to see the Blue Book value and it was listed at $1,500 in good condition. With the repairs I would need, I would be way better off getting a new used car.
So with our tax refund in hand (praise God), I’m looking for a new used car. Something under $3k that’ll last a while. Any ideas???
