At the beginning of the session, they showed the trailer to the movie Bella. The guy who directed this movie, attended the 2005 Summit and discovered that his holy discontent was to direct wholesome videos that promoted Christ. Bella has won the Toronto Film Festival award and many other accolades. It looks like it’ll be a great vid.
He wrote this clip:
Never cast anybody because of their reputation. Otherwise they would go wrong. Make sure you keep your motives pure and select the right people.
Think of a new way to do things well. Try to find a way to get people to perform better. Motivate & inspire them to take it to another level.
Conflict of actors of some renoun.
Find out why they’re all tense and stressed out. Learn that things aren’t disasterous. Don’t panic. 30% of the film will get cut.
Budgets - My Big Takeaway
Nobody has a budget that is big enough to do their job well. It comes down to creativity in the team to bring it all about.
If you can make people remember the basic reason of why they love, got married, (or go to church), then it’s all worth it.
For poverty, he created “Red Nose Day” in Britain to raise money. Comic Relief began in 1985 under his watch and raised tons of money to help with the relief.
To help raise awareness, he uses kids to share their names. Think of them as kids who have parents, friends, and relatives. Everyone has a name, background, a story. Then, describe their future. It brings a personal touch and you remember them when you think of their name.
Not long ago, American Idol did a segment for children in Africa. They called it “Idol Gives Back.” Richard and his crew lobbied Fox and the producers of Idol to use one night to raise awareness to their fight against poverty. The results of this was the audience % grew and gave $73 million during that one show.
People are looking for an opportunity to do something good.
There’s not much to show for a movie in the end. By helping people, you see the results in changed lives.
We can cub poverty by getting leaders to stand together.
