I don’t know about you, but I enjoyed watching Bonds hitting #756 last night. Yeah, there will always be questions of steroid use, but steroids don’t swing the bat.
I found out this morning that Scott, my brother in law, knows the guy who pitched to Bonds last night. Mike Bascik and Scott have been friends since they were 11. They also went to school together in Texas. Mike may not be remembered for being a great pitcher, but he’ll sure be remembered for this.

Man, I’m sorry but I didn’t enjoy it. Not one bit. In fact it almost made me sick. I couldn’t just look at it as a record being legitimately broken. It will always be tainted in my eyes. As someone who grew up following Braves baseball when the only thing they had going for them was Hank Aaron it just doesn’t set well with me at all. I followed along as he chased, caught, and passed Babe Ruth and I never thought that record would ever be broken. But if it were to be broken I hoped it would be broken by a man who I could respect and admire. So much for that! What type of lesson does that teach our children? But then why should I expect anything different. Baseball, just like almost all other professional sports, is nothing like it was. It seems to be all about money and Me! Me! Me!
Well I’ve had my say and blown off a little steam. I suppose I should just look at it this way, as far as I’m concerned in the grand scheme of things this is just a tiny blip on the radar and I have more important things to do. Like being thankful for all the great people and circumstances that God has put in my life.
