Yesterday, Elevation Church held our first worship experience in Spring Hill. It was great to finally stop talking about what church would be like and actually see it happen. As I drove on the lot around 7:30am, I could sense that God was going to do something amazing. I compare it to a small thunderstorm off in the distance. You can hear it coming from miles away. Yesterday marked the beginning of God moving and changing lives in Spring Hill.
We had a total of 21 people show up yesterday. Months ago, we dubbed this our soft launch. We didn’t do any big promotion or marketing effort. We just asked our friends to come and be a part of our first weekend. God moved in a big way. God used the message to speak to a guy that came to our experience. He committed his life to Christ and experienced a new beginning. Friends, that is what it’s all about. Seeing someone step across the line of faith and experience a fresh start with God.
My message was titled “A New Beginning” and I used the story of Zaccheus and how God changed his life and gave him a new beginning. Zaccheus was the chief tax collector and a Jew. Since tax collectors not only collected taxes, but charged up to 30% more, they were seen as crooks and cheats. Zaccheus’ fellow Jews looked at him as a notorious sinner, something that he wanted to change. Zaccheus wanted his life restored. Through an encounter with Jesus, it was.
We experienced a new beginning as a church yesterday and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for us in the coming weeks and months. I can still hear the rumbling off in the distance. We haven’t seen nothing yet! God is truly on the move!!!
