Recently, I watched the final installment of “The Lord of the Rings”. It is by far my favorite of the series. The action is jam packed. The battles are amazingly detailed. Sometimes the CGI is too much, but overall it is well done.
My favorite part is near the end. It is where Aragorn is worried about Frodo. He wonders if he will make it to the end and will finish his task. He states that there are 10,000 orcs standing in Frodo’s way. Aragorn then tells the group: What Frodo needs is a distraction. Let’s ride out and meet them (the enemy). What he’s saying is that they will storm the Black Gates. The troll then says “Certainty of death, small chance of success. What are we waiting for?”
I have been replaying this scene over and over in my mind. In church planting, we’re not sitting idly by and letting the enemy come to us. We’re meeting the enemy on his turf. We’re bringing the battle to him. We’re storming the gates of hell with a squirt gun.
So here’s to you: Gate Crashers. Keep up the battle, because in the end, we win!
